Western States Auto Theft Investigators Northern Chapter – 3rd Qtr – Training day

In this training session we will have presenters from the Alameda County District Attorney's office discussing auto insurance fraud, and the role that body shops are playing in these matters.  This quarter’s training will be presented by both Jill Nerone and Jeff Israel of the Alameda County District Attorney’s office and will focus on auto related insurance fraud and the role that body shops are playing in these matters.

– The auto body shop “problem” Operation details
– Pre-op planning/selecting targets
– Undercover operator script
– Obtaining an estimate
– Developing high impact cases
– The legal framework and potential defenses

 

Auto insurance fraud is a billion-dollar problem in California. Most auto fraud claims involve the use of insurance and auto body shops. In undercover operations dating back to 2018, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office in partnership with CDI, Golden Gate Region, and NICB, have found a high percentage of auto body shops are willing to commit fraud during the vehicle estimate and repair process.

Members are welcome to bring guests who are part of the law enforcement/insurance community and who may benefit from becoming members of the organization.
